The sold sticker has gone up at a penthouse described as “unlike anything the Sydney market has ever seen”.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom apartment known as level 83 King Penthouse sits atop the Greenland building at 115 Bathurst St, Sydney.
Ahead of its May launch, TRG founder Gavin Rubinstein had highlighted its uniqueness and described it as “next level, brand new, 245m high in the sky ... with 360-degree views”.
He’d also pointed out that the building had no level four because it would be considered unlucky to some foreign buyers so “this is a good luck building”.
When contacted, Rubinstein refused to disclose the sale price saying it was confidential, though the guide had been $30m and sources said it sold for close to that.
He was also tightlipped about the purchaser, though it was pitched at international buyers who face fewer obstacles to buy new properties than older homes.
Rubinstein, with TRG co-agent Chrissie Ren, launched the penthouse to market with an invitation-only New York Style event.
It just sold for $30 million, but is it Sydney’s best penthouse?
A property smack bang in Sydney’s CBD with uninterrupted harbour views is believed to have sold for around $30 million.
The listing for the four-bedroom, five-bathroom penthouse at 115 Bathurst Street reveals it sold for an undisclosed sum on August 9.
Described as a “sky home” and “Sydney’s best penthouse”, on the listing, handled by agents Gavin Rubinstein and Chrissie Ren of TRG, the residence occupies the top two floors of an 83-storey development with 700 square metres of indoor and outdoor space.
Whispers in prestige property circles are that the penthouse fetched in the realm of the $30 million price guide. However, when approached by this masthead, Rubinstein declined to comment on any aspect of the transaction.
Rubinstein and Ren describe the penthouse on the listing as a “breathtaking fusion of world-class design”.
There are views of Sydney Harbour from every room and plenty of space to entertain with a wrap-around outdoor terrace, reflection pond, travertine spa and built-in barbecue.
A wine cellar for over 300 bottles and a butler’s pantry will make entertaining a breeze for the buyer.
Making a grand statement is the curved Italian stone staircase that’s lit up from underneath. Floors of American Oak and white venetian plaster complement nicely.
The main suite has a dressing room tailored for the diehard fashionista and a calming marble green en suite.
The penthouse has been furnished by luxury turnkey providers Cohen-Freeman.
Simon Cohen and Jack Freeman filled the property with $2 million-plus of artwork and design pieces supplied by FREEMAN Gallery, that are available for the buyer to purchase.
Cohen-Freeman is focused on the growing demand for turnkey residences and hotel-style living.
“The beauty of the service is having all aspects considered to a level of luxury beyond your wildest dreams,” Freeman tells Nine.
“True luxury is not having to think about it and spend the time engaging in so many different consultants, contractors and manufacturers, and dealing with the transportation and delays.
“We source and curate hundreds of pieces from all over the world, specifically for the client, their style and lifestyle.”
Elsewhere in Sydney’s top-end market, the six-bedroom penthouse at Crown Residences in Barangaroo is asking $90 million, while the most expensive apartment in Australia is in Lendlease’s One Sydney Harbour Tower, which sold off the plan for $140 million in 2019.
